BEA ARTHUR ON BROADWAY AT THE EL PORTAL

Bea Arthur and Billy Goldenberg will appear in the much acclaimed Tony-nominated Broadway show Bea Arthur on Broadway at the El Portal on August 5, 6, 7 at 8 pm and Sunday, August 8th at 2 pm. The historic El Portal is located on Lankershim Blvd, in the theatre arts district of NOHO in North Hollywood .
In the show (with the subtitle of Just Between Friends), Bea recalls the highlights of her remarkable stage and television career intertwined with favorite songs by Cy Coleman, Jerry Herman, Stephen Sondheim, Marilyn and Alan Bergman and many more. Bea Arthur and Billy Goldenberg, long time friends, have toured the United States and the world since 2001 with this mesmerizing hit show playing the Booth Theatre on Broadway, the Savoy in London, the Parade Theater in Sydney as well as Johannesburg and Cape town, South Africa.
In addition to receiving a Tony nomination in 2002 for this one woman tour de force, Ms. Arthur received a Tony Award opposite Angela Lansbury in MAME as the savagely witty and serpent tongued woman Vera Charles. She then reprised her role in the movie MAME opposite Lucille Ball. Bea Arthur is probably best known for her Emmy Award winning roles in the classic television comedies Maude and The Golden Girls.
Billy Goldenberg has been working as a composer and musical director for many years. His impressive list of credits includes the scores for the films Play It Again Sam, Reuben, Reuben and Red Sky in the Morning. TV credits include the music for Queen of the Stardust Ballroom, Columbo and theme songs for Rhoda, Kojak among others. He has garnered more than 30 Emmy Nominations and has won the award four times. Over the years major artists such as Liza Minneli, Barbara Streisand, Gladys Knight and Helen Reddy have recorded his songs. Goldenberg was also the musical director and orchestrator for Elvis Presley's 1968 comeback special.
